With EMDR therapy, I help moms of explosive boys whose own intense reactions feel stuck so you can stop being pulled back into old patterns and start responding to your son from a calmer, more grounded place.

Something Gets Triggered in You. And You Can't Seem to Stop It.
There are moments with your son that hit differently. A certain tone in his voice. The look on his face when he's ramping up. Something about the way a meltdown unfolds that pulls you somewhere old and familiar before you even know it's happening. Your reaction feels bigger than the moment. And no matter how many times you tell yourself to respond differently, it keeps happening.
That's not a willpower problem. It's a sign that something is stored in your nervous system that hasn't been fully processed yet. EMDR helps your brain do that processing so those moments stop having the same grip on you.
If this feels familiar, I see you.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process distressing experiences that feel stuck. When something from your past hasn't been fully processed, it can get activated by present-day stress, including your son's meltdowns, in ways that feel bigger than the situation warrants.
EMDR works by helping your brain complete that processing so those moments lose their grip. You don't need to talk through every detail of what happened. The focus is on shifting how those experiences are stored so they stop driving your reactions.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, New York License #101001, also licensed in Florida #SW23284
I'm a trauma-informed therapist in New York and Florida specializing in EMDR for moms whose past experiences are getting activated by their son's behavior. Many moms describe the disorientation of knowing logically that a situation doesn't warrant their level of reaction, and still not being able to stop it.
EMDR can help you process what's stuck so those moments stop having the same hold on you. We work carefully and at your pace. You're in control of the process the entire time.
I'm steady, direct, and committed to helping you get to the other side of this.
Structured, Carefully Paced, and Always in Your Control.
EMDR sessions follow a clear structure. We don't dive straight into processing. We spend time building your capacity to stay regulated during the work, so you feel prepared before we move into anything activating. The pace is always determined by what feels right for you.
Many clients are surprised by how manageable EMDR feels once we begin. You're not reliving experiences in a raw or overwhelming way. The process is designed to help your brain do the work it was always trying to do, with the right support in place.
A space where what's been stuck can finally start to move.
Those Reactions Have Roots. EMDR Helps You Address Them.
Schedule a free 15-minute consultation and we'll talk about what's feeling stuck, how EMDR helps your brain process what hasn't been fully resolved, and what working together would look like. No pressure. Just an honest conversation about whether this is the right next step.
What Clients Sometimes Notice as the Work Progresses.
EMDR works differently for everyone. But there are shifts that many clients experience as the processing takes hold.
Less Reactivity
Moments that used to send you over the edge start to feel more manageable.
More Distance
You gain space between what happens and how you respond to it.
Lighter Carrying
What felt heavy and stuck begins to lose some of its weight.
What Life Can Start to Feel Like When Things Begin to Shift.
As the processing takes hold, many clients describe a growing sense of distance from the experiences that used to feel so activating. Moments that once pulled them somewhere old and familiar start to feel more neutral. The grip loosens. The reactions soften.
Over time, you may find yourself moving through hard moments with more ease, feeling calmer in situations that used to create intense responses, and carrying what happened with less weight than before. The past doesn't disappear. It just stops driving.

Start Sessions
We don't dive straight into processing. Early sessions focus on building your capacity to stay regulated during the work so you feel prepared and in control.
Notice the Shifts
As the processing takes hold, you may begin to notice that what once felt activating starts to lose its grip. The changes are often gradual but meaningful.

When EMDR Starts Working.
You may begin to notice that the memories or experiences that once felt so activating start to feel more distant. The emotional charge softens. What used to pull you somewhere old and familiar starts to feel more neutral, like something that happened rather than something still happening.
Over time, you may find yourself moving through triggering moments with more ease, responding to your son without the same intensity, and feeling a growing sense of space between your past and your present. The processing happens gradually, and the shifts are often subtle before they become undeniable.
Therapy works through consistency and trust in the process. Not every session will feel like a breakthrough. But over time, most clients describe a growing lightness, a sense that what they were carrying has begun to settle.
Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Therapy
What does an EMDR session actually feel like?
EMDR sessions are structured and carefully paced. We don't dive straight into processing. Early sessions focus on building your capacity to stay regulated during the work so you feel prepared before we move into anything activating. During processing, you'll follow a bilateral stimulus, typically eye movements, while briefly focusing on a target memory or experience. Most clients describe it as surprisingly manageable, and often less overwhelming than they expected.
Is EMDR safe?
Yes. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy with a strong research foundation. It's recognized by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association as an effective treatment for trauma. We move at your pace, and you're in control of the process at every stage. If something feels like too much, we slow down.
How long does EMDR take and how often will we meet?
It varies depending on what's being processed and how your nervous system responds. Some clients notice shifts within a handful of sessions. Others find the work takes longer. Most clients start with weekly sessions, particularly during active processing phases. We track progress consistently and adjust as needed.
How much do sessions cost and do you accept insurance?
Sessions are $200. I am in-network with select insurance plans in New York and Florida. If I'm out of network with your carrier, I can provide a superbill you can submit for reimbursement. We can talk through your options during a consultation.
