Parent Sessions for Explosive Behavior in Astoria, New York
Also available virtually in Florida
With parent sessions, I help moms of explosive boys who are struggling to find strategies that actually work so you can stop surviving the meltdowns and start responding in ways that help both of you feel calmer.

You've Tried So Much. And the Meltdowns Keep Coming.
You've done consequences, rewards, sticker charts, and every parenting strategy you can find. Maybe you've tried ADHD medication or behavioral therapy. Some things help a little. Nothing fixes it. And every day you wake up not knowing what version of your son you're going to get, bracing yourself before the day even starts.
You're not missing a strategy. You're missing an understanding of what's actually driving his behavior. When you understand what's happening in his nervous system and why, everything about how you respond can start to shift.
If this feels familiar, I see you.
What Are Parent Sessions?
Parent sessions are focused, clinical sessions designed specifically for moms who are navigating explosive behavior in their sons. Rather than traditional talk therapy, these sessions are structured around understanding what's driving your son's meltdowns and building your capacity to respond differently in real time.
You'll leave each session with clear answers and practical strategies you can use immediately. Not more theory. Not generic parenting advice. Real tools grounded in trauma-informed understanding of what's actually happening in your son's nervous system.

What Starts to Change When You Have the Right Tools.
Most moms notice a shift within the first few weeks. Not perfection. Real, tangible progress that changes how home feels.
Clearer Understanding
You stop guessing and start knowing what's actually driving the meltdowns.
Real
Strategies
You leave each session with tools you can use before the next one.
Steadier Responses
You start responding differently instead of reacting the same way.
What Home Can Start to Feel Like When You Have the Right Support.
As the work progresses, many moms describe a shift in how they move through their days. The bracing starts to ease. You wake up with more confidence about how you'll handle whatever comes. You respond to your son's meltdowns differently, not perfectly, but differently enough that the dynamic between you begins to change.
Over time, that shift compounds. Fewer meltdowns. Shorter recovery time when they do happen. A growing sense that you're leading your home with intention instead of just surviving it. That's what this work is designed to create.

Notice the Shifts
Most moms notice a real shift within the first few weeks. Clearer understanding of what's driving the behavior. Steadier responses. A growing sense that things are actually changing.

When Parent Sessions Start Working.
You may begin to notice that the bracing you've been doing every morning starts to ease. You wake up with a clearer sense of how you'll handle whatever comes. You respond to your son's meltdowns differently, not perfectly, but with more intention and less reaction.
Over time, that shift changes the dynamic between you and your son. Fewer meltdowns. Shorter recovery time when they do happen. A growing sense that you're leading your home with confidence instead of just surviving the next explosion. Most moms describe feeling noticeably different within the first few weeks.
Therapy works through consistency and a willingness to try things differently even when it feels uncomfortable. Progress isn't always linear. But when you stay with the work, the changes compound in ways that start to affect everything about how home feels.
Frequently Asked Questions About Parent Sessions for Explosive Behavior
Do I need to bring my son to these sessions?
No. Parent sessions are just for you. The focus is on helping you understand what's driving your son's behavior and building your capacity to respond differently. You don't need your son in the room for that work to create real change at home. In fact, many moms find that their son's behavior starts to shift simply as a result of changes in how they respond.
How are parent sessions different from traditional therapy?
Parent sessions are focused specifically on your son's explosive behavior and your responses to it. We're not doing open-ended talk therapy. Each session has a clear focus and you'll leave with practical strategies you can use before the next session. It's clinical work with a very specific and practical goal.
How quickly will I see results and how often will we meet?
Most moms notice a real shift within the first few weeks. Most clients start with weekly sessions, as consistency early in the work is what creates momentum. As things stabilize, we can talk about adjusting the frequency together. That decision is always collaborative.
How much do sessions cost and do you accept insurance?
Sessions are $200. I am in-network with select insurance plans in New York and Florida. If I'm out of network with your carrier, I can provide a superbill you can submit for reimbursement. We can talk through your options during a consultation.
